Email Address Privacy
We had a prospective customer recently come to us with an interesting request with regard to the privacy of their email recipients. They wanted the actions of their email recipients to be anonymized in such a way that in no way would it be possible for anyone to determine which specific email addresses opened, clicked, unsubscribed, or experienced a bounce in a given email.

The prospective customer had a real concern for the privacy of their recipients but still desired the aggregate reporting metrics that make things like measuring the effectiveness of a group of emails possible. Total clicks? Great. Who clicked on which link? Gone.

We were happy to custom-develop this feature for the customer. And since we developed the software to do it for them, we can make it available to you — upon request.

The feature ensures that the specific email addresses are purged from the database and removed from the SMTP logs after receipt, ensuring they cannot be retrieved or compromised by anyone. The total actions for each transactional group are still aggregated and made available via reporting.

This feature is a good example of how we're willing to go lengths to fulfill the needs of a customer who knows what they want. While this may seem obscure, if you'd like this feature added to your account, or have another custom feature in mind, please don't hesitate to ask.

Location metrics have been relocated within Reporting

To improve consistency and avoid confusion in a campaign's Reporting metrics, Geotracking Location data has been moved to display along with the Raw Data of a Campaign's Details reports. This data had previously been located along the different ways to group data (by Domain, by Sender, by Email Client, etc.), though it did not group by location.

Now, you will find the location data in the raw data report itself.

The additional columns showing Geotracking's Country Code, Region, City, Zip Code, ISP, Domain Name, Latitude, and Longitude are on the right.

You Can Now Use the JangoSMTP Relay with Gmail

Gmail allows users to use a custom From Address to send emails, but some recipients would see both the From Address and the Gmail Sender Address. Messages would appear to recipients as "From username@gmail.com On Behalf Of username@customdomain.com". Gmail announced last week that users can now send with their custom domain through their company's email servers, and that will eliminate the "On Behalf of" message.

This means that you can now use the JangoMail SMTP Service with Gmail to eliminate the "On Behalf of" message and give you the added benefits of Open Tracking, Click Tracking, SMTP logging, and participation in the Sender Score Certified Program.

*Please note: This is only available for people using a custom From Address (NON-Gmail Address) in Gmail.

Configuring Your Gmail Account

Set up Gmail to use the JangoSMTP Relay.

1. Sign into your Gmail account.
2. Go to Settings in the upper right corner.
3. Click on the Accounts tab.
4. In the Send mail as: section, click edit info next to the account that you want to change. You should already have your business email address set up to send through Gmail. If you don't, click the Add Another Email Address option and follow the steps provided.
5. Hit the Next Step button.
6. Choose the Send through [your domain] SMTP servers option.
7. For SMTP Server, erase the default address and type in relay.jangosmtp.net
8. For Port, choose 25.
9. Type in your JangoSMTP Username and Password.
8. Save Changes
Gmail will now send your emails via the JangoSMTP Relay instead of its own servers. Enjoy the Open Tracking, Click Tracking, and all the other benefits of our SMTP service.
